Lockhart Itty Bitty Jar of Peaches #3065
I know, I know...it's October 2nd already but here in the Pacific NW it seems like our summer just ended last week!! Before we got too far into the glorious autumn I was reminded about a simple technique I wanted to share.
I had a house guest last weekend that brought me a wonderful jar of homemade applesauce as a hospitality gift. I am totally into homemade things like this and was thrilled. I swear the best food gift I ever received was a mason jar of tuna - freshly caught and cured in oil - made the best salad nicoise I have ever had! Anyway...
Saving summer...and jams and jellies...reminded me that I had the perfect stamps for cards that could be used for thank you's or sharing recipes.
Rather than just stamping onto a blank Inchie Square try the technique of adding a subtle background with a coordinating ink and a large pattern stamp. This stamp, Large Dashed Border, is from a wonderful collection of 'huge' patterns from Savvy Stamps.
First, flip the stamp over. Using the cantalope color for the peach card (LOL!) ink only the section that you need.
I love these Memento Inks by Tsukineko - they come in many, many colors!
Tip: Since the stamp is larger than the Inchie Square I think it's easier to bring the Inchie Square to the stamp when stamping. (if you have fingernails it is especially hard to hold the Inchie Square in your hand) Try making a little tape handle for the back of the square or even just stab it with an awl to make it easier to 'bring to the stamp'.
If the background you were stamping had more substance I would suggest creating a mask first. But in this case your coloring will cover up the tiny lines of the background!
