Yesterday we told you about a brand new creative blog launched by papercrafters Jill Foster and Elizabeth Allan. Their collaborative endeavor focuses on their love of papercrafting with the goal to share their ideas, tips and inspirations with others.
And...they are using Art Squares in all of their postings during their first week.

Elizabeth's idea of turning a pair of 3" white Art Squares into the covers for a notepad is brilliant!

This all started with the random application of extra black ink on a brayer that was then rolled onto a 3" white Art Square.

The Valentine card that Dina created is a perfect example of how you can use a metal die with Art Squares. In this sample card she used 4 - 1.5" white Art Squares and one at a time ran 3 of them through the die cut machine with the hearts die. Because the Art Squares are matboad thickness the die will not cut through the material, but instead leaves an actual incision into the square. It's a neat trick to add a textural element that can be further enhanced by coloring!

There are so many layers of different wet media on this 3" white Art Square it is hard to keep track. Jill posted this recently and you have to visit her blog, Inspired by Jill Foster, to understand the details of each layer of color. (scroll down to her post from January 24)

Be brave, get out the pen and draw it yourself!
A few posts ago we did just that by creating a simple sketch using a Copic 0.5 Multiliner pen to create stems with hearts atop them - you can scroll down to see it. This card was created exactly the same way but instead of on a single Art Square, we put three 3 1.5" white Art Squares together and drew and painted across them.
We are falling in love with Twinkling H2O watercolor paints all over again so you may see more projects using them in the near future! If you are not familiar with them, they are little pots of hard watercolor pigment made by Luminarte and blended with bits of mica and other minerals. As they dry there is an irridescent sparkle quality to them.
Prior to painting, be sure and moisten the paint pots with a few drops of water. We love to use a Kuretake waterbrush pen - it's like a fountain pen but with water in the barrel (you don't need to have a container of water to replenish or rinse!).
