Half of the fun of papercrafting is learning or revisiting different techniques. Here Dina shows us that by coloring with alcohol markers and then using a waterbrush pen filled with rubbbing alcohol you can create a watercolor 'effect'. It looks like Jill and Elizabeth are having fun with the mosaic concept of using large images on a 'mosaic' background of Inchie Squares!

This 'mosaic' technique' is a wonderful way to use larger stamps, especially florals. There are a few tips and tricks to achieve this look as Elizabeth explains in today's posting at Studio Sessions.

This is a wonderful technique to use on a 3" white Art Square, especially when paired with such a unique 'macro' style stamp.
You would never guess that acrylic paint is applied, and scraped, over an embossed image. Of course there are a few additional color applications as well, but you will have to visit Dina's blog to learn the details of how she applied them, as well as link to Dina's step by step instructions for acrylic batiking.
(and now I have cubes on the brain...wouldn't this technique be fabulous for the 6 sides of a cube?!)

We like to trim our photos to leave a 1/16" border from the edge of the image to the edge of the Art Square, making it look as if it is 'framed'. Now, instead of labor intense punching you can use the new Grid Works dies from the Susan's Garden collection from Sissix that were designed to use specifically with our Art Squares. They are available in 5 different sizes to work with our 1", 1.5", 2", 3" and ATC size Art Squares!

We have been teaching a series of classes focusing on the basics of using Twinkling H2O paints with Art Squares and stamping. To get familiar with the concept of using LOTS of water with the Art Squares we created this super simple set of notecards.
Start by stamping a small (somewhat solid) image onto a 1.5" white Art Square with white pigment ink, dredge in white embossing powder and heat set. (it will be hard to see on the white square!) We used a Flower Center stamp from Impress Rubber Stamps.
Make a very light colored 'water' using just a tad bit of the selected H2O paint color and water in a egg carton style palette. Paint a square onto the Art Square, right over the embossed flower, using this tinted water, using so much water that it almost puddles. Then dab in 100% paint directing from the jar (make sure and keep the paint in the jar moistened with drops of water).
The trick is to "dab in" color, but don't overwork it. As the puddle of water absorbs into the surface of the Art Square and dries, you will be rewarded with the shimmer of the mica in this unique paint!
Make lots of these at a time and keep at the ready so you can stamp whatever sentiment is appropriate!
